Abstract
This paper investigates the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in succession planning within family businesses, focusing on the unique governance complexities of polygamous family structures. While digital transformation offers significant potential for operational optimization, its integration into multi-branch kinship ecosystems remains undertheorized. Grounded in a triangulation of Socioemotional Wealth (SEW), the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and Agency Theory, this study proposes a novel socio-technical framework that positions AI as an agent of inclusion and fairness in decision-making. Drawing on interdisciplinary literature, the paper analyses how AI-driven decision-support systems can act as a neutral arbiter, mitigating "principal-principal" conflicts between competing maternal branches through data-driven, performance-based evaluations. However, the study identifies critical adoption barriers, specifically the tension between algorithmic rationality and the preservation of socioemotional assets. We argue that successful integration is contingent upon reaching a "Socio-Technical Equilibrium," where the Information System functions as a "Digital Steward" that enhances, rather than replaces, traditional family wisdom. By shifting the locus of authority toward an augmented meritocracy, this research offers a strategic roadmap for achieving equitable and sustainable leadership transitions. The paper concludes with four research propositions, providing a foundation for future empirical inquiry into the social implications of algorithmic governance and the role of information systems in fostering inclusive organizational environments.
