Abstract

Maritime transport plays a pivotal role in global supply chains and is increasingly required to support decarbonisation objectives and broader sustainability transitions. While a wide range of sustainable measures has been proposed for shipping and port operations, existing research remains fragmented, limiting a comprehensive understanding of how these measures contribute to sustainable supply chain transformation. This study systematically reviews the development of sustainable measures in green maritime transport using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework and bibliometric analysis. The review synthesises the literature across the shipping and port sectors, examining various measures that support environmental performance, resource efficiency, and supply chain sustainability. The findings offer a structured roadmap for researchers, policymakers, and the industry seeking to advance maritime decarbonisation and sustainable supply chain development while identifying key research directions for future innovation and decision support.
