Abstract
Around the world millions of people are still affected by leprosy. In Ireland, however, it has long been eradicated and is viewed as a biblical disease – a thing of ages gone by. So how can people in modern day Ireland related to those suffering the impacts of leprosy on their lives? This film dramatises the story of a wife and mother in modern day Ireland who contracts leprosy. Told through a talking-head monologue, it shows the harsh reality of how leprosy devastates lives, in areas that include financial, social, physical health, psychological wellbeing, social and spiritual. Made with The Leprosy Mission Ireland it is an awareness-raising resource to promote discussion.
