Abstract
Using a sample of 85 GPs, this study aimed to gain a deeper understanding of GPs attitudes towards commissioning. The study employed survey and focus groups as the principle methods of data collection During the study the new coalition government published a white paper which planned to make GP commissioning compulsory, this obviously had ramifications for the legitimacy of the study and this was incorporated into the work.
