Abstract
Who would have thought that I would get the chance to talk about my research journey, shaped initially in Coleraine and Jordanstown, and then Stirling and Liverpool? My first real research endeavour was my Masters dissertation where I used a combination of interviews, visits and visual data to understand how visual art organisations engage with the promotional mix in helping to shape their marketing activities. One of the main takeaways then was, at that time, most arts marketing research was from North America, with work elsewhere in its infancy. Things have improved since then, with a solid body of critical work now in existence, in addition to normative outputs.
