Abstract
This new activity is a development of two projects I undertook in Cheshire between 2010 and 2013 – first a film ‘Private Views Made Public’ and, subsequently, artwork focused on farm-women, a heritage lottery-funded project. I will now be working in partnership with ‘Lakeland Arts’ to research and develop a new installation (which will include film and other media) made in collaboration with Cumbrian farm-women. It is my intention to develop the discourse to understand why the farmer’s wife was and remains one of the most elusive figures in agrarian history whose labour on the farm has been largely unpaid and unrecorded. Together the new and existing works will be presented at Abbot Hall Art Gallery.
