Abstract
This report explores the impact of targeted drug testing on drug using offenders coming to treatment in Liverpool. It compares the numbers of drug tests, Required Assessments and criminal justice assessments prior to and following the implementation of targeted testing in Liverpool's custody suites. Analysis has not been carried out on targeted testing locally or elsewhere in the country, and research into the general effectiveness of this criminal justice process is lacking. Therefore this report provides a unique source of information for Liverpool; however the results could also be considered in the wider Merseyside area and elsewhere in the country.
