Abstract
Researchers in feminist film studies have long argued that there is a visual bias in the way the female body is represented on the canvases. This article explores the extension of this bias by including sound: how sound is used to represent women in American cinema. Explore the sound representation of some key movies, including Singin'in the Rain, Mulholand Drive, Blue Velvet and Citizen Kane.
