Abstract

Advancement in Human Resource Development (HRD) necessitates that scholars and practitioners address the triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit. HRD can contribute to organizational effectiveness by fostering holistic Employee Well-Being (EWB) and enabling Spirituality in the Workplace (SIWP). This literature review provides a comprehensive view of the role of SIWP in EWB in profit-oriented organizations. The study includes 116 research articles from the literature. It consolidates the SIWP construct, provides evidence linking SIWP to EWB across various frameworks, highlights barriers to implementation, and delineates potential research directions through gap-spotting. The study proposes a conceptual model depicting SIWP as a strategic HRD approach and its role in organizational sustainability and community well-being using the Stakeholder-Based HRD model through EWB. The study advances the HRD field by providing theoretical unification, conceptual clarity, and practical insights for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers aiming to foster spiritually enriched and purpose-driven workplaces.
