Abstract
Defined broadly as ‘the social institution that transforms the primary language of art into the secondary language of culture’, the primary function of the museum has been traditionally to valorize the object, extract it from its context and function, and preserve it from decay. Whilst this traditional understanding of the museum persists to an extent, it is clear that museums have undergone radical changes in the last few decades.
